The Ortles Ascent Mid Gore-Tex is Salewa's high-end winter alpine mountaineering boot, designed to provide reliable performance in the most challenging conditions. The boot's thick suede leather upper, SALEWA 3F System with steel cables, and reinforced TPU rand make it exceptionally robust and durable, while the stiff carbon-loaded nylon fibreglass insole increases stability during activity.

The boot features a dual density expanded polyurethane midsole with dedicated stiff and cushioned zones, ensuring both comfort and precision. The interchangeable layers of the Multi Fit Footbed Plus (MFF+) allow for a customizable fit, ensuring that the boot adapts to the unique shape of the wearer's foot.

The semi-crampon-compatible Vibram Alpine Guide sole unit is engineered for traction, durability, and reliability on difficult terrain at low temperatures. Its overall firmness is a key factor for use with crampons on snow and ice, and the tread design features self-cleaning lugs for outstanding grip and a climbing toe profile for high edging performance.

The boot is equipped with a waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX Insulated Comfort membrane, which has an extra insulated layer to keep the wearer's feet warm and dry in colder winter conditions in the mountains. Additionally, there is an integrated stretch gaiter to prevent snow ingress.
